Been missing David Hasselhoff on “America’s Got Talent”?
Comedy Central serves up a lot of the Hoff with a 90-minute roast taped Aug. 1. It airs at 10 p.m. Sunday.
“Family Guy” creator Seth MacFarlane plays roast master, and that’s the tipoff that this roast will be especially bawdy.
Joining him are Jerry Springer, George Hamilton, Hulk Hogan, Jeffrey Ross, Lisa Lampanelli and “Baywatch” co-star Pamela Anderson. (Hasselhoff and Anderson kiss in this AP Photo by Dan Steinberg.)
“Talent” co-judges Sharon Osbourne and Piers Morgan also sent in their barbs. Hasselhoff told USA Today that he left “Talent” because his heart wasn’t in it anymore. I don’t think anyone could make that complaint about replacement Howie Mandel.
Elsewhere this weekend:
***”Big Brother” should be mighty interesting with the overbearing Rachel out of the house. Wasn’t she one of the most annoying “Big Brother” players ever? The next episode airs at 8 p.m. Sunday on CBS.
***Turner Classic Movies continues its day-long salutes to noted actors. Robert Ryan, one of Hollywood’s best actors, is saluted today. Gene Tierney, one the most beautiful actresses in movie history, gets the honor Saturday. And endearing child star Margaret O’Brien receives the honor Sunday. (Tierney is shown in “The Shanghai Gesture.”)
The Ryan salute includes “The Set-Up,” an excellent boxing drama, at 9:30 tonight, and “The Wild Bunch” at 1:15 a.m. Saturday.
The top film in the Tierney tribute is “Leave Her to Heaven,” a stunning 1945 melodrama that plays at 8 p.m. Saturday as part of TCM’s “Essentials” series.
Why is this one essential?
Because Oscar-nominee Tierney astounds as an evil woman who puts a nice man (Cornel Wilde) through hell. And the sumptuous cinematography won a richly deserved Academy Award.
