Dell Streak Release Date On Friday the 13th!
The Dell Streak, priced at $299.99 with a two-year AT&T contract, is a full-featured device. Dell wanted to offer consumers something that is a bit different, and they seem to have achieved that goal. The Dell Streak has a powerful 1GHz Snapdragon processor, 2GB of internal storage, a 5-megapixel camera with a dual-LED flash in back, a front-facing camera for video chat Bluetooth capability and Wi-Fi and 3G connectivity.
Dell announced that the Streak will be pre-installed with Android 1.6 OS. There are tech blogs claiming that an over the air update will be provided by Dell to update the current O.S. to Eclair (Android 2.1) this month while the Froyo (Android 2.2) might proceed later this year.
However, there are some who are still doubtful if the Dell Streak is going to be a huge success. There are a few worries that have been voiced by some: the AT&T service that comes with it, the size (device seems a little too big), and the rather out-of-date Android 1.6 operating system, to name a few. The Dell Streak, understandably, has been constantly compared to the iPad, and it seems that using the iPad would be less costly and give a larger viewscreen.
Critics call the Streak a “tweener” device, or in other words, a design compromise. The Dell Streak can be considered either as a giant smartphone or a minitablet. Some claim that this can be problematic for Dell. We’ll see how the Streak will fare in the market in the coming days (and judge if the Friday the 13th message is appropriate or not). A lot have been waiting for the Streak for a long time, and the wait will finally be over.
