The prisoners within its walls are the worst of the worst – rapists, kidnappers and murderers. With long prison sentences, 85 percent never return to live in the outside world. Instead, they will grow old and die in Angola. ONE LAST SHOT documents a hospice program where hardened criminals extraordinary care for their fellow prisoners dying. In this way, they embark on a journey that can end in personal rehabilitation. “One last photo shows the humanity that exists within each and every one of us,” said Whitaker. “In the Angola prison hospice, we find the inmates who choose to have a chance at redemption, which reminds us of the connection between each and every human being.” Volunteers are trained, pushed and tested. The group is self-sustaining and self-regulated. They work to be together after a devastating flood destroyed their land and forced them to leave place. Sons of perdition takes viewers inside the lives of three teenagers after escaping the complex Fundamentalist Latter Day Saints in the Utah / Arizona border, the oldest community in the U.S. polygamist. Here men have several wives, donating their property to the church and swear obedience to their prophet. In 2003, a new leader came to power: Warren Jeffs, the son of the prophet spurned earlier. A student of Hitler, Jeffs tried to clean his flock by the ban on public education, “gentle” books and leisure sports, cinema and television. The elders excommunicated hundreds of prominent, giving their wives and children to other men. Hundreds of teenagers were banished to the streets of the surrounding communities. Many more fled, abandoning their families and salvation by hope of freedom. The previously announced Family Affair, an independent feature documentary film written and produced by David Colvard Chico, is a very personal documentary examining the history of the family of Colvard convincing. At age 10, Chico Colvard shot his sister in the leg. This seemingly random act touched off a chain reaction that exposes the ineffable reality and shattered his family.
