2022 MLB Mock Draft: Orioles take Termarr Johnson at No. 1; Padres scoop up Kumar Rocker

 

The 2022 MLB Draft is only  few days away. Last year MLB pushed the draft back to the All-Star break in an effort to excellent market the event, and that will be the norm moving forward  many executives don't like it. The draft used to be held during first week of June. This year the three-day event start on Sunday, July 17.

This Orioles hold the No. 1 pick for the third time in franchise history and the second time in three years. They used their previous No. 1 picks on righty Ben McDonald (1989) and catcher Adley Rutschman (2019). Our R.J. Anderson ranked Rutschman the No. 1 prospect in baseball before the season. The O's called the switch-hitting backstop up to big leagues in May.

"I'm being very frank about it that the small list that we have that's five players long," O's GM Mike Elias told MLB.com earlier this month. "I feel like we are going to carry that for the next week up until the draft day, because we don't expect there's going to be a broad consensus in every corner of the organization of who to take ... I don't think we are going to really get much closer to narrowing things until the day of draft."

The Jazz are fighting for earn a spot in the playoffs at Las Vegas as they face the Clippers in  final days of NBA Summer League                                                                                    The Utah Jazz (2-1) come off their first loss in the NBA2K23 Summer League in Las Vegas but are still in play for the spot in the playoffs. The Los Angeles Clippers (1-2) have drop two straight after the opening win and they are unlikely to play beyond a fifth game.

The Jazz trailed by as much as 18 and only made the final margin respectable with a big fourth-quarter surge. Jared Butler scored 12 points and dished out six assists but was 5-of-16 as Utah shot only 36.7% for the game and went 7-of-30 from deep. Veteran Bruno Caboclo and undrafted rookie Kofi Cockburn each got nine boards. Isaiah Miller, who played for  the G-League last year, had four super steals . The Clippers come in off an 80-75 loss to the Nuggets on Wednesday. LA trailed by 12 at the half and by as much as 17 and never led in the game.Jay Scrubb, who played on a two-way contract last year with  Clippers and has training camp deal on this year, scored 18 points.

Jarrell Brantley, who finished last season at France, grabbed 8 rebounds. He was the second-round pick of the Pacers in 2019 and was with Utah for 2 seasons on a both-way deal. Jason Preston, who missed all  season for LA after his foot surgery, had six assists and 3 steals to go with 9 points.
